Happy Birthday Kanoa!

Today is Kanoa's 7th birthday and his generous mum came in with not one but two birthday cakes to share with the class. Thank you! Lucky we didn't set off the fire alarms!!

Author Study

This term the junior school are doing a NZ author study. Each week we will be looking at some New Zealand authors and reading their books. This week Room 19 were focusing on Lynley Dodd who wrote the famous Hairy Maclary books. Here is some of the kids responses to characters in her books. Hercules Morse is my favourite dog from the books because he is the giant of the team because he is fat. Hercules Morse is the fattest dog who jumps up high from Scarface Claw because he is so scared of him. By Roman Schnitzel von Krum is my favourite dog from the books because he is like the shape of a sausage. He is little and funny because his tummy can nearly touch the ground and he has got short, little legs that can’t jump very high. By Monty Hercules Morse is my favourite dog from the books because he is gigantic like  a big horse. He can run very fast like a car and he is the biggest dog of the group. Visit from MIT student teachers

This week Room 19 were very fortunate to have two seperate visits from MIT students who were completing a degree in teaching. They prepared fun lessons to complete with the class to do with literacy. Look at all the amazing learning that took place!
