To continue on with the learning that we did with Harold the giraffe the junior school is having a kindness week. Today Room 19 wrote a character description of our one and only Mrs Benjamin. Here is some of them hard at work!
This term the junior school are doing a NZ author study. Each week we will be looking at some New Zealand authors and reading their books. This week Room 19 were focusing on Lynley Dodd who wrote the famous Hairy Maclary books. Here is some of the kids responses to characters in her books. Hercules Morse is my favourite dog from the books because he is the giant of the team because he is fat. Hercules Morse is the fattest dog who jumps up high from Scarface Claw because he is so scared of him. By Roman Schnitzel von Krum is my favourite dog from the books because he is like the shape of a sausage. He is little and funny because his tummy can nearly touch the ground and he has got short, little legs that can’t jump very high. By Monty Hercules Morse is my favourite dog from the books because he is gigantic like a big horse. He can run very fast like a car and he is the biggest dog of the group. By Juni Slinky Malinky is sneaky at night time. He is a thief....
This week Room 19 were very fortunate to have two seperate visits from MIT students who were completing a degree in teaching. They prepared fun lessons to complete with the class to do with literacy. Look at all the amazing learning that took place!
This term junior school is going to be having Sistema lessons. These lessons are led by the music teachers from OMAC and it will give the students an opportunity to learn some basics before they decide they want to continue learning how to play a musical instrument. Here are some pictures of our very first lesson!
