Author Study

This term the junior school are doing a NZ author study. Each week we will be looking at some New Zealand authors and reading their books. This week Room 19 were focusing on Lynley Dodd who wrote the famous Hairy Maclary books. Here is some of the kids responses to characters in her books.

Hercules Morse is my favourite dog from the books because he is the giant of the team because he is fat. Hercules Morse is the fattest dog who jumps up high from Scarface Claw because he is so scared of him.

Schnitzel von Krum is my favourite dog from the books because he is like the shape of a sausage. He is little and funny because his tummy can nearly touch the ground and he has got short, little legs that can’t jump very high.

Slinky Malinky is sneaky at night time. He is a thief. He steals stuff from poeples home. He is pitch black and he has bright eyes too. He steals teddy bears, pens and glue.

Slinky Malinky is a such a a sneaky cat. He is a skinny cat who has yellow eyes and skinny legs with a long tail. He is an adventurous cat who takes stuff from the next door neighbours house while they are asleep. He is so sneaky he doesn’t even wake them up.
