Language experience with student teachers

Today 40 student teachers came into junior school to share some language experiences with us. Room 19 enjoyed having the five different student teachers in our class and they learnt about things such as making their own toothpaste, decorating their own toanga, looking at different crystals, doing a science experiment with milk and food colouring and looking at bubbles. Here are some pictures of the student teachers and kids in action.

Here is some writing that Room 19 would like to share with you about what we have learnt so far about growing seeds and plants. To grow a plant I would need a watering can, sunlight and also space so the seeds do not fight over the sun or the rain. They need some air so it can breathe. Plants needs soil to cover the seeds and roots so it grow when it has had sun and water. After that it will grow bigger and bigger. By Raema Plants need water otherwise they will die. They need spoil too so they keep safe. They need sun and air. You need a seed to grow a plant. Nutrients is food for the plants and it is found in soil. Remember to pull the weeds out. Sun is light for the plants. Plants could have seeds inside them and that makes them grow, grow, grow. Some plants grow into fruits that have seeds. Te wiki o Te Reo Maori 2019

During week 8 BMPS celebrated Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori. During the week Room 19 learnt some Te Reo songs and learnt the names of the colours as well as new kupu about some simple directions from the teacher. Author Study

This term the junior school are doing a NZ author study. Each week we will be looking at some New Zealand authors and reading their books. This week Room 19 were focusing on Lynley Dodd who wrote the famous Hairy Maclary books. Here is some of the kids responses to characters in her books. Hercules Morse is my favourite dog from the books because he is the giant of the team because he is fat. Hercules Morse is the fattest dog who jumps up high from Scarface Claw because he is so scared of him.
