A paleontologist for a day!

Last week Room 19 went for a fossil hunt because we are learning about dinosaurs. Here a some pictures and kids writing of our interesting morning!

Today Room 19 went on a dinosaur adventure. We found a humongous bone and everybody was good at digging up the bone.

We went to the sandpit and dug for fossils. I felt good. I saw sand when I looked at the bone.

Today Room 19 were palaeontologist, Room 19 got the bone, and we went back to class. The bone was hard and I think the end of the bone looks like a bottom.

Today Room 19 went to the sandpit and we were digging for a bone. I was so so excited when we were getting the bone. The bone was so big and then we took the bone inside the class. We touched the bone for a while and went to go and wash our hands. After we touched the bone I found out the bone was real.

Today Room 19 went on an adventure and we were digging for a fossil. Everyone had a go at digging around the bone. Everyone had equipment and I felt so happy because I saw a real fossil. We came back to our class and had a go at touching the bone.

Today Room 19 went on an adventure and we walked to the sandpit with brushes and when we got there we started to find shovels and we started to dig.

Today Room 19 went on an adventure and we were palaeontologists. We went to the sandpit to find a bone and we all got a turn to dig the bone up. We all went back to class and we were looking at it. It was massive and it was an animal bone. We had to use sandpit equipment to dig up the bone. We used a shovel, brushes and a rake.

Here is some writing that Room 19 would like to share with you about what we have learnt so far about growing seeds and plants. To grow a plant I would need a watering can, sunlight and also space so the seeds do not fight over the sun or the rain. They need some air so it can breathe. Plants needs soil to cover the seeds and roots so it grow when it has had sun and water. After that it will grow bigger and bigger. By Raema Plants need water otherwise they will die. They need spoil too so they keep safe. They need sun and air. You need a seed to grow a plant. Nutrients is food for the plants and it is found in soil. Remember to pull the weeds out. Sun is light for the plants. Plants could have seeds inside them and that makes them grow, grow, grow. Some plants grow into fruits that have seeds. During week 8 BMPS celebrated Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori. During the week Room 19 learnt some Te Reo songs and learnt the names of the colours as well as new kupu about some simple directions from the teacher. Author Study

This term the junior school are doing a NZ author study. Each week we will be looking at some New Zealand authors and reading their books. This week Room 19 were focusing on Lynley Dodd who wrote the famous Hairy Maclary books. Here is some of the kids responses to characters in her books. Hercules Morse is my favourite dog from the books because he is the giant of the team because he is fat. Hercules Morse is the fattest dog who jumps up high from Scarface Claw because he is so scared of him.
